Henna and Ringworm?

Hi,

I was just curious after reading some things on the Hennapage I found that henna has been used to treat ringworm. Does it work? I've used henna once before just for simple designs but never heard of it being used as treatment. I've had ringworm before from kittens I've fostered and currently have more ringworm kittens and waiting to see if I will get it. Has anyone tried this? Would it be safe to try?

Thank You for any replies

On yourself, yes.

On the kittens, I would ask a vet and probably do it at the vet to be safe. Cats have a very hard time metabolizing certain things. I would probably use water only in the mix to be safe.

Sorry should have made it clear that it was for me. Do you know if it stains normally?

Okay, but will it go away as it normally does?

It should, yeah. Unless the skin is broken, then theres a chance it could permanently stain.

Thank you very much! I'm going to try this if I do get ringworm, just have to remember not to scratch.

Re: Henna and Ringworm?

For the last two summers, I've used henna to successfuly rid my dog of ringworm. It does a fantastic job!  I caught it too, and henna knocked it off me. My dog's fur returned, and there's no trace of what were ugly itchy patches.

Cassia also has antifungal properties - if you want to avoid the stain, you could try using it just like henna.  Let us know how it goes.
