Lotus Feet

I found via FB this beautiful piece of music, named Lotus Feet - absolutely beautiful piece of musical art. As is this one by Steve Vai. Stunning flow of melodies...

My great grandfather was born in 1898 in St Peterburg (Russia) and from the very childhood I remember his stories about prisoners from Russian-Japanese war before 1905 and bounded-feet ladies working in the building-works of St Peterburg railway. He told how not-understandable it was for a little boy to see woman doing hard work with feet tiny as pony-hoofs (hooves?), walking slowly and having problems with balance. When I listen these pieces of music it always makes me wonder how there is no pain in this music... Just my professional cretinism.

One video I found about foot-binding - there are many of them, but mostly pictures used in them repeat - is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcDLdvyqso4

BTW - do you recognize who's henna this is - sec 17-18, very beginning. I swear I have seen it... Kiran? Riffat? Kim? All you have pic of your henna with a pose like this. I know I have seen it but no idea whose it is.

And one short quite nowadays-clip from some of the ladies still alive:
