Making Gilding and Glitter last longer

Is there a way to extend the life of zardosi mehandi (gilding, glitter and gems) designs?  I'm thinking along the lines of something like sealing it (like we do with lemon/sugar, hairspray or "glitter goop" on henna designs).  My stuff just seems to flake of WAY too quickly.

If you seal it down with Liquid Bandaid, and keep your washing limited to water and no scrubbing, it can stay for two weeks on non-flexing areas.

Or try shimmery temporary tattoo paint instead. You can add metallic powders or glitter for greater effect or use it alone. It can take some scrubbing. I've even shaved over it without ruining the design. You can put it on when you do the henna, take the paste off over it, and it will still look great for a wedding two days from the application. Good stuff!
