How long Will dye released henna stay good in fridge? Chamomile acidic enough?
I'm planning on releasing my henna with chamomile, which I know doesn't take long. If I put it in the fridge after release will it still be good the next day? Or should I leave it in fridge to release? Also I've read that using chamomile isn't acidic enough for dye release and will tend to leave hair more on the orange side. I wanted to use it because my hair is already dry and damaged, but not if it's going to leave me a neon head..

Henna will release dye even if you use plain room temperature water. What's different about using something acidic is it extends the time the dye stays "live" and it will bind best with the hair for permanent dark color. Using something acidic also helps dye uptake in dye resistant hair, like gray hair can sometimes be.

Chamomile tea is mildly acidic. Not as acidic as lemon juice, but acidic enough to help. Compared to lemon juice, It doesn't take as long for dye release, just 2-6 hours depending on your room temperature. It will not stay active as long as a lemon juice mix, but putting it in the fridge will put slow down its demise, and it should still be good the next day.

In my experience, a chamomile tea mix doesn't get as brownish-tinged red/orange as a lemon juice mix, staying a bit cooler red/orange. It's not a terribly obvious difference, just subtle. I wouldn't say it makes henna come out weaker or more orange. It's normal for hennaed hair to be neon for the first couple of days though!
